About us

Since 1905, the Atlantic City Free Public Library (ACFPL) has responded to the diverse educational, cultural, and informational needs of the Atlantic City community by providing resources, programs, special collections, and staff expertise. The ACFPL has demonstrated a commitment to advancing the humanities for residents, researchers, and visitors by establishing and maintaining the Atlantic City Heritage Collections (AC Heritage Collections), housed in the Main Library. The mission of the AC Heritage Collections is to collect, preserve and make accessible items documenting Atlantic City’s unique cultural, economic, social, and historical development. The AC Heritage Collections contain more than 2,300 sq. ft. of images of Atlantic City from the 1800s to the present, including some of the earliest existing images of the iconic Boardwalk, beach, and hotels as well as documents, artifacts, audio, and video.
