The material in this collection primarily consists of copies of photographic prints of entertainers in clubs such Louis Armstrong, George Hudson and his band, and Billy Williams Quartet. Photographs are identified and often dated with the years of performances at the various clubs.
Alma Fay Horn, or “A-Fay”, was born July 9, 1924 in Philadelphia, and later moved to Atlantic City. She was a photographer and owned her own studio, where she developed and took pictures. At Club Harlem in Atlantic City, Horn photographed performers and guests. She worked as a computer programmer at the Federal Aviation Administration Technical Center. She was also an avid golfer and was president of Freeway Golf Course in Sicklerville, New Jersey. She was a charter member of the Green’s Ladies Golf Club in Philadelphia. Alma Fay Horn died on September 25, 2004 in Atlantic City where she left behind a plethora of photographs of the inner workings of Atlantic City African-American clubs.
